Hey there,
One of these days I'll get around to completely figuring out
the cool listserv software that my ISP uses. You can actually
subscribe to ron-l in a digest form, but I'm not sure how to
get that going yet...
Anyway, one of the questionably cool features of the software
is a feature which allows only list subscribers post messages
to the list. This means that when you post a message, the
software checks the From line in your email message to make
sure it appears as in the subscription list. In Nils' case,
ron-l mail gets sent to nils@cs.bu.edu. Nils tried to post
something from work, nils@mak.mak.com, which got bounced back
to him since the message's originating address didn't match.
All I had to do to fix this was to send a message to the
listserv to tell it to accept mail from the alternate address,
but still only send the mail to the original address.
mailto: ron-l-commands@lists.best.com
in the message body: alias nils@mak.mak.com
After submitting the command, the listserv will send you back
email asking whether you really want to execute the command.
You then send back an ACCEPT message, then you're golden.
Man, that was a mouthful.
Nils. Give that posting from work a try. I think I fixed it.
I believe someone else sent me a similar email, but I can't
remember who it was, and the message is gone. If it was you,
please try the above and let me know if you're having problems.
As always, enjoy!
Ron
